My Passion for Books
Carrying a book cover purse is a way to let the world know your affection for a particular writer or novel. It shows you are an independent thinker who loves unique fashion accessories.
To find my literary inspirations, I climb ladders at used book stores to get to the dusty, topmost shelves, and rummage on hands and knees through boxes at garage sales and library used book sales. I also have many authors and editors who send me their own books to craft into purses. I don't use rare books or first editions.
I design my purses to be practical as well as good-looking. I use my products myself, so you can trust my workmanship.
You can watch a video on my repair of a "breaker" book (one that is beyond repair) on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhRHwl89Iu0
If you wonder about the pages, I often rebind texts for my own library; others may be shipped with the purse. I make collage book markers to send to my customers, and notecards and bracelets. I print images on dictionary pages for artwork. Other pages I save for writer friends who use them in classrooms as writing prompts. What’s left goes into a recycling bin.
Rokki means rock and roll in Finnish, which is my heritage; it's pronounced RÓ-kee, with a little tongue roll to the r.
