Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

What shipping method do you use, and how long will it take for my item to reach me?

All packages ship USPS w/ tracking and insurance for the full retail amount.

The shipping times below *do not* include fabrication time of made-to-order items. The time I need to make your item is written in every listing. Add this time to ship time to determine when you should receive your item.

* USPS does not guarantee ship time. If your box doesn't arrive within these estimates, your shipping fee is not refundable.

What do I do if my item hasn't arrived?

All shipments come with a tracking number. After shipping, you should be able to track your box to its destination, however, please note that USPS tracking information is sometimes delayed or not up to date, and often not available for international packages once they leave the U.S. If you provided a correct shipping address upon checkout but your box does arrive or gets lost in the mail, I will do what I can to help you find the box. However, Sarah Hood Jewelry does not provide refunds or replacements for items that are delayed, do not arrive or get lost in the mail. If you need to order a replacement piece of jewelry for an item that got lost, please note that many one-of-a-kind items may not be able to be remade.

Who pays for customs fees, and can you ship as a "gift" so I avoid taxes and fees?

If you are ordering from outside the U.S., your package may incur customs charges and taxes. Custom fees are a tax levied by your own government to offset lost tax revenue when you purchase from another country, and are your responsibility to pay. Please check with your local post office to obtain an estimate of these customs charges if you would like to know what to expect. It is up to the customer to know the customs laws of their own country.

I cannot ship your package as a "gift" or "sample" in order to avoid customs fees. This is not legal.

Can you size my ring for me?

I am able to size many rings in my shop. Just ask. Please be certain of your ring size before ordering by having your finger sized at your local jewelry store or by purchasing a ring sizer through my shop. If you need your ring sized after purchase, my ring sizing fee is $30 for most silver rings, and $50 for most gold, palladium and platinum rings. Contact me for a quote on your particular ring. Please note that many rings CANNOT be sized due to various factors such as stones, stone settings or type of metal. Please also note that, as stated above, once rings are sized for you, they are not returnable or exchangeable. I am not able to size rings that other jewelers have made.

Can you use my gold or my stones for a new piece?

Unfortunately, no.
I use recycled precious metals in my jewelry, but cannot recycle your metal for you or make your old jewelry into a new piece. I also do not use customer supplied stones in my work. I work with trusted and vetted vendors who supply quality recycled metals and stones at fair prices.

What kind of packaging does my jewelry come in?

Your jewelry will come to you in a gift box with ribbon, perfect for giving.

How do I clean my jewelry?

Treat your jewelry well and it will last you a lifetime. To keep your jewelry pieces looking their best, please remove them before swimming, bathing, exercising and sleeping. Remove rings when doing dishes, applying makeup or lotions, and washing your hands. To clean your jewelry, use a commercial cleaning pad like a Sunshine cloth, or use a paste of baking soda and water or a mild dish detergent (blue Dawn works well) with a soft toothbrush. Rinse carefully and dry with a soft cloth. Store jewelry in original boxes. Opal jewelry: opals are fragile and extremely sensitive to water and chemicals. Do not get opals wet.

Can you make my item faster?

If you are in a rush and need your made-to-order item fabricated faster than the stated timeline in each listing, I may be able to accommodate you on a case by case basis. Rush orders incur a $50 rush fee, payable separately, and are non-returnable. Contact me if you would like to find out if a particular item is eligible to be rushed. In addition to the rush fee, you should consider Express shipping, which will get it to you faster.

Can I return my item?

You may return Ready-to-Ship items. You must contact me within 14 days of receiving your jewelry, and return it within 30 days in unworn condition in original packaging. All shipping costs are your responsibility. Anything returned in worn or damaged condition will be returned to you with no refund issued.

All returns are subject to a 25% restocking fee.
