Scavenged Art is the culmination of a lifetime of exploring what other people discard to make unique art that can either be displayed or worn.
I began as a child constantly experimenting with anything I could scavenge up. I was always working away on something, I even now after thirty years still enjoy working with my hands. I find discarded or disregarded objects to be inherently interesting and feel driven to explore the many possibilities to bring disregarded items a new life. Early on, I instinctively began forming shapes and components and connecting them to make functional jewelry from raw items. I explored buckets and boxes of rusty nails and old tools that had been disregarded and left behind and re worked them into my first three dimensional art. I have been reworking and repurposing various items in many forms as long as memory serves me.
My art has evolved over thirty years into the eclectic mix of very personal work you will find as you browse my store. Please take your time there is a lot to cover and it is worth checking each section. There are several sections that are exclusive works.
The Sacred Heart section was one of the first I put up in my store. My Sacred Hearts are something I have been making most of my life and again I truly enjoy making each one still. I assemble this very personal and orignal work by incorporating many interesting elements including many objects found on the streets of my home, New York City. Each Sacred Heart is one of a kind and created out of a variety of materials forged together to represent this religious symbol of unending love. These hearts can be custom ordered and I welcome working to make them unique to my customer.
Another section of found object art work in my store is my ever evolving and contemporary line of lucky horseshoes. These eco friendly and re cycled horseshoes feature unique vintage images and charms that compliment them. They warm up a room with a modern look and rustic tone.
There are also my shadowboxes which feature found objects and bones which I have collected over many years. I have a penchant for unusual rusty things that show wear and age. I have been making these in one form or another most of my life for myself. Now I am selling what I think are some really special unique pieces.
You will find a wide variety of jewelry and accessories in my shop. A large portion of the jewelry that I've made over the last 30 years have included beautiful and unique bone elements. My jewelry honors creatures who have already passed on. (no living creatures were harmed in the making of this jewelry.) I have always felt deeply inspired by the unique details inherent to the vertebrae and bones. When designing my one of a kind bone necklaces I am inspired by the bones to carefully choose components and designs that compliment each piece. Again these necklaces can be custom ordered and often customized upon request. All orders are meticulously attended to, I am dedicated to making my customers satisfied.
My evolution as an artisan jewelry maker has taken me from a long time devoted lover of tribal jewelry to personally designing and hand crafting sterling silver to make some very special rings and earrings as well as custom sterling silver pendants designed as pet reliquaries.
These pet reliquaries came from a strong need for one for myself. I could not find a design that felt right to me. Working with silver allowed me to create stunning sterling pet memorials you can wear in a modern urban setting. They are unisex and are customized to represent perfectly the eternal bond of love between you and your beloved pet. We can work closely together to ensure your design is unique and yours or you can choose based one of the designs I have created.
All custom orders are welcomed and encouraged.

On scavengedart.com you will find the ever expanding collection of Scavenged Creatures. Ugly and beautiful at once, each unusual creature is composed of articles of clothing and fabric remnants. They are truly scavenged! Sometimes, bits of already existing stuffed animals or toys are reborn into a plush Frankenstein Animal called by a very unique name and a look that often suprises me when I am done but they are all Scavenged Creatures. Each one is "made as I go". I let the materials and strange mood inspire these individual creatures.
Please check back in as I will be adding more Scavenged Creatures to my etsy shop in the new year as well as my new explorations in metals.
Thanks for looking.
