I work from my Red Twig Studio in Olympia, Washington. My Studio is a sanctuary and haven where I can work uninterrupted and look outside, to only see the cool shaded woods. This quiet private place offers me a sense of focus and ease in the process.

For me, making art is about being closer to nature through the work. In many ways being an artist is not a choice, but something more primary to my sense of well being. Working with my hands is the most grounding and peaceful experience that I have. The critical point of a body of work is whether there is something internally that sustains continuance.

A sensual design quality and the challenge of integrating several ideas into one picture is what I love most about creating new work. I may see something that I want to have in a picture and look for weeks for subjects, colors and shapes that will make the image successful. I love mastering new materials and studying great artists. I have worked in several mediums, however I see how I bring similar qualities to each one.

I spend between two to three months on each print, from start to finish. Most prints are 4 to 20 colors, hand pulled one color at a time. I use 100% Cotton paper and water soluable printing inks. Each print is individually signed and numbered. You can find the story of each print in the art description. I like to describe how I see each plant and animal that I see and the occasional transcendent tale about my own life.

I am dedicated to wildlife preservation. I support local and worldwide conservation organizations.
