I've always loved to make things with my hands and felt the need to document the world around me. Thankfully, my family have encouraged these compulsions in every way since childhood. As my mother likes to reminisce, if she hadn't insisted I create my own party hats as a young child from coloured crepe, gift wrap scraps and Clag paste, then I would not have become an artist at all!
Since then, I have formally studied both art and design, and believe that these worlds are intertwined. In my day job, I'm a colour and typography-loving graphic designer and in between I travel with my husband and make art. These are the constants in my life.
I look to my art as a documentation of both my inner and outer worlds – it is a way for me to figure out everything that transpires the two. I mainly do this through collage, photography, objects and various forms of printmaking.
I hope you enjoy looking at the works in my shop – which I was persuaded to open up by my sister (a long time travel companion and talented knitter!). If you are interested in reading more, I also have a journal and portfolio at www.somethingfromnowhere.com
