Hello and welcome to my Etsy Shop - I love textiles - in particular silk and my other crafty passion is glass beadmaking. My pure silk ribbons and strings are all stitched and hand dyed by me in my studio and my glass beads are kiln annealed for strength and durability.
I am a Self Representing Artist No. T43.
The ribbons and strings are all 100% pure silk and I use the finest Italian silk thread in my overlocker and only natural threads when stitching the strings. The ribbons are crinkle chiffon, crepe-de-chine and georgette (see individual items) and the strings are habotai or pongee which I stitch and turn before hand dyeing. I use procion (fast) dyes which will take a hand warm wash in mild soapflakes and I iron the ribbons and lightly steam the strings before despatch.
My ribbons are 1/2" wide and 40" long and the strings are 1/8" wide and 50" long (all approximate). I cut the strings on the cross of the fabric so they drape well and the ribbons are left unfinished at the ends.
My glass beads are individually made with a multi-fuel torched and kiln annealed for strength and durability. They are cleaned of all bead release and are ready to be used in your jewellery creations..
