TrashN2Tees: Changing the Way We Consume & Create

TrashN2Tees was born from my frustration with the lack of clothing available for the boys. I really wanted to dress my dudes in fashion that reflected their own quirky personalities- so a little over 3 years ago I pulled out an old sewing machine, gathered up outgrown clothing, and whipped up a monster truck design. Little did I know, I was yearning for a creative outlet and a platform to raise awareness for a cause that I am passionate about, environmental protection. I spent a lot of time honing my craft & mastering different aspects of sewing so that I could provide not only clever designs but do so with handmade heirloom quality. I joke that I've found a way to combine all the loves of my life and call it a day job. But really its true.

In my shop you'll find bright colors, cool stripes, fun appliqué t-shirts, and unique upcycled accessories that can be worn year round. My designs are inspired by things that make me smile, laugh, and just bring joy to my life. I noticed that many times my tshirt designs correlate to whatever is trending in my house- hiking, camping, nature or maybe monster truck, baking cookies, or a simple rainy day.

All designs original, hand cut, and made using 100% reclaimed materials. Did you know the average American tosses 68 pounds of clothing and textiles in the trash each year? These items can be recycled or repurposed. What else are we throwing away that can be reused or recycled? I am here to not only encourage and inspire you to consume less and recycle more but to transform discarded materials into practical, fun, personalized and stylish works of art. When we find creative ways to repurpose what we no longer need we can inject color, texture, joy, and wonder into our lives and communities.

Not only do I create tees, but I want to also create change. It's exciting for me to share that a TrashN2Tees Clothing Recycling Program recently launched in Central Kentucky, where I am teaming up with several county facilities, agencies, and local charities to help dispose of clothing that is stained, torn, or out of style. Textile/clothing waste makes up for nearly 6% of municipal waste and 95% of the that material can be recycled! For the past 3 years I have offered incentives to my own customers with a mail in recycling program called TrashN2Cash- to date I've diverted more than 2.5 tons of clothing from the landfill. With the expansion of my clothing recycling program & along with the great partnerships we've diverted more than 21 tons of clothing from our landfills.

Changing the way we consume and create- its a mission. Find out more about my commitment with the Create Change Change Movement. http://sidengo.com/createchange
