Silverware wind chimes have been an on going process for me for many years. It started when a high school friend pulled a broken spoon chime out of a drawer and said "hey look at this my grandmother made it by running over spoons in the driveway!" That was about 35 years ago and since then I've tried every configuration and method I could think of. But the most enlightening moment came one evening when selling chimes at a street fair. A woman came into my booth and was looking at each chime as they blew gently in the breeze. I went over to make nice with her and through a few quick gestures she told me she was deaf! I grabbed a pencil and paper and scribbled 'then why are you looking at wind chimes??' And she wrote that she could feel the vibrations from some of them! Wow- so which ones became the focus of the next half hour and from that experience I have worked out a design that will not only produce lovely tones but good vibrations as well.
