I use natural materials such as coix seeds, rudraksha seeds, wood beads, and gemstone beads. I will also use eye catching glass beads. Plus, I use symbolic charms that reflect and aid us along our spiritual paths.
A mala is a strand of beads used by Buddhists and Hindus while repeating a mantra or prayer. This practice is called japa. Hence the term japa mala is also used.
The word mala is Sanskrit for *garland of flowers*. With a spiritual mala, each flower is a bead, each bead is a mantra.
The mala is commonly made from 108 beads or other numbers divisible by 9. Interval beads, not included in the 108 count, are places for reflective pause.
