Even as a kid in the 1960's, I loved vintage. There was a small vintage shop in Venice, California that I visited frequently to admire the mostly funky vintage attire--military jackets, victorian lace tops, sexy party dresses.

My grandmother would sometimes take me to yard sales and swap meets. Back then, I could literally buy things for a dime. In the 1970's, when I was in high school, I discovered thrift shops. This was before they were popular, and they were filled with the most amazing finds.

I bought up vintage sequin sweater tops, 50s wiggle dresses and 60s cocktail dresses. Too young for knee length dresses, I hemmed them short. Back then, nobody really got it. Luckily, times have changed, and I am no longer alone in my love for all things vintage.

Who is a TIMTOM girl you might ask? In our view, she is a unique and multifaceted gal -- sometimes she wants to be sexy in a 60s mini dress, sometimes funky in an 80s jacket or maybe boho in a 70s maxi dress. Once in a while, she even wants to be demure in a 50's chiffon dress and full crinoline slip. She gets noticed, because she is one-of-a-kind and not afraid to take chances with her wildly eclectic wardrobe. Vintage clothing is the driving force behind her distinctive personal style. It's a look that is not sold at the mall and not made in China.

Here at TIMTOM Vintage, we offer up an eclectic mix of vintage clothing. Mixing high and low is key to making vintage fashion work today. The juxtaposition is what makes it modern and fresh. Mixing a formal sequin dress with funky turquoise jewelry, a mink stole with cutoff Levis, or a 50s circle skirt with an edgy concert t-shirt is when the magic happens -- it's all in the mix. Oftentimes, straight up vintage fashion works on its own, but more often than not a little tweak in contrast makes all the difference in the world to make a look truly pop.
