Growing up in the 1970’s Halloween was a huge deal in my neighborhood. At dusk the streets filled with trick or treaters, every house was lit and decorated. All the sights and sounds filling the senses made October 31st magical!

In childhood I read a lot of fairy tales and fantastic magical stories. I spent my days drawing and constantly creating with construction paper and glue trying to materialize what I had seen or read. Back then, and still today I will have an inspiration for something that must be created; that something will clamor and rattle my imagination until it is brought to fruition. I wanted (and still do) for all those images of Halloween’s past and fairy tales to be true. In my imagination, faeries dwell in gardens just under the flowers; neighborhood cats hold secret meetings and grinning Jack O Lanterns keep secrets. For me that one night in October these things get brought to light. Halloween is perpetual in my world.

Through my handcrafted wares I attempt to capture and share that fanciful spirit from the past. It is my way of preserving nostalgic memories and holiday histories through handmade objects. Those of us who create Halloween are custodians of cultural tradition. Twilight Faerie is my bridge to the world of fantasy and days gone, but never to be forgotten. I founded the professional artist group Halloween Artist Bazaar to bring together other Halloween and fantasy artist to share and promote their inspirations. We promote Halloween art to keep alive the enchantment of Halloween imagery for those who remember when the holiday was in it’s heyday and to pass on the celebration to those who will come after us.
