Ulrike's Shop Announcement

Le Mosaic, as the name says a shop for mosaic, made by me, Ulrike, with the greatest of care and the finest material's I can find from around the world. My designs are originals and drawn by me.
Enjoy your browsing, and I hope you can find something that is to your liking, if you purchase something, I know you will love it as much as I have loved creating it.

With it you will have a piece that will bring you joy and last you a life time if properly cared for.

A short little history about the materials I use, so I do not bore you to much.
There are many materials you can use for mosaic's, I love using Smalti or Mexican Smalti. Smalti is a special fused glass for mosaic's, the one I buy and use is made in Venice Italy by the famous Orsoni family which has been making mosaic's for hundreds of years, and then the Mexican Smalti, Elpidio Perdomo started making this beautiful fused glass in 1949. I love Smalti because it has such vibrant colors, I also use Marble which is hand cut with a hammer and Hardy (like a little anvil) and so is my Smalti. Then there is Vitreous glass, which comes in little tile’s and is not so expensive, and Ceramic tiles. As I said there are many materials, like broken porcelain and some people even use precious stones. A lot of work goes into these pieces, not only mine, but everybody that makes a mosaic. Most people think of broken tile or glass when they hear mosaic, but not of all the work that is involved of making them.
