Each of my pieces is approached one at a time and my textiles describe a place, person or feeling through texture. Each of my wraps is signed with vintage scrabble tiles and has a ‘little sister’ “Everyday Scarf.” I use all my thrums in machine embroidered scarves and hand-spun yarn.
I am greatly inspired by my cultural background and where I grew up as a child. My Dutch Oma left me the Glmakra Loom that I use and I spent my childhood watching her and my Maman on the same loom growing up in Central Alaska. BC is new inspiration.
I love going outside rain, snow or shine to crawl around on our many hillsides, in our forests and fishing in our beautiful rivers to gain perspective and inspiration through experience. On the other side of the bridge from the North Shore where I live there is wonderful city life.
My “Textiles With a Twist” can be found at the Circle Craft Co-op on Granville Island, Favourite Gifts in the Lonsdale Quay and Collette’s Frock’s on Lonsdale. In the winter season they can also be found at Leslie Jane in Ambleside.
