Hurricane Sandy's devastation was even greater than anticipated, and it's a part of the world that means SO much to us; Stone Harbor, NJ is my VERY favorite place on earth, and we're sooooo lucky that our part of town was largely spared. Not so for downtown, and for so many residents of the coast. I will continue contributing at least 20% of all proceeds to the Red Cross and Rebuild Recover through June 1. :♥: Kathy Cross Burnett was the lucky WINNER of our fall jewelry giveaway!!! Our Spring giveaway (officially beginning March 15) will be all about our blog, so get a head start by visiting the blog (www.willieandlu.blogspot.com) and our FB page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Willie-Lu-jewelry-with-moxie), where every comment and "like" after 1/10/13 earns you an entry into the drawing -- Every SHARE earns you 2, and every PURCHASE earns you 5!!!

WILLIE & LU GIVES BACK
***** ***** ***** ***** *****
Willie & Lu contributes AT LEAST 20% of all proceeds to humanitarian, environmental, educational, health, & wildlife/animal organizations. During Spring & Summer 2012, we'll be splitting our proceeds between two VERY deserving charities. THANKS for your support!!!
1. Through June 30, 2013, we'll be supporting the Red Cross' disaster relief efforts on the East Coast. We'll also be supporting Rebuild Recover's efforts to, well, rebuild & recover (rebuildrecover.com). We still have proceeds earmarked for the following agencies, and will have summaries of our giving at the end of the year:
~ We're collecting funds for the Lupus Foundation (lupus.org). I was diagnosed with lupus about 9 years ago, and recently Lucy was shown to have some early markers of the illness. I desperately want her to grow up healthy and happy! Self-serving, yes, but lupus is more common than you may think: 1 in 1,000 Anglo women in America has lupus, and as many as 1 in 250 African-American women do (it's much more common in women). If you're wondering, lupus is a chronic illness in which the body's immune system attacks its organs, including the brain, kidneys, and skin. Some quick facts can be found here: http://www.niams.nih.gov/Health_Info/Lupus/lupus_ff.asp
~ Lucy is currently being treated at UCLA's Renowned Pediatric Pain Program, one of the leaders in the study and treatment of complex chronic pain in children -- from infants through young adults -- with individualized treatments that integrate traditional Western medicine with complementary and "alternative" mind/body services, including hypnotheraphy, yoga, biofeedback, and acupuncture. ✿ Our summer proceeds (through September 1) are earmarked for the Pain Program's scholarship program, to help families pay for alternative services that are VERY expensive and generally not covered by insurance. We've made 2 contributions of $30 each so far, and will make MORE!!! ✿ Lucy's making INCREDIBLE progress with her non-traditional therapies, and it is nothing short of tragic that so many children aren't able to take advantage of these ground-breaking programs simply because of prohibitive costs., Please visit our blog -- www.willieandlu.blogspot.com for more info -- on the program and updates about Lucy. ✿
...and continuing: In memory of our dear friend Laura, who passed away in a year ago September at just 34, we'll continue contributing proceeds from our RAINBOW COLLECTION to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (http://www.lls.org) as well as an educational trust or Laura's 12 year-old daughter Eva, who is one of the great lights of our lives. ✿ We contributed $60 to the LLS for March/April; in May/June, we donated $25, and hope to make one final donation. ✿ For more info, or to make a direct donation to Eva's trust, please convo us, and check our blog (www.willieandlu.blogspot.com) in coming weeks, where I'll be writing about Laura (and her rainbows!). THANK YOU for your support!
Thanks for your support!

NEW in 2012: Customer Appreciation & Frequent Buyer Reward:
The inaugural perk of our new program is the FREQUENT BUYER REWARD: It's quite straight-forward, really: As of 5-20-2012, you'll get a FREE ITEM with every 3 Items you purchase!!! *//* The cool part is that you don't have to buy all 3 items at once --- your credits (any purchase made on or after February 2, 2012) will accrue as long as this shop is open (e.g., buy a pair of earrings tomorrow, then a bracelet for Thanksgiving -- When December rolls around, the pair of earrings you buy for your best friend will earn you a FREE gift for YOU or someone you love), and we'll keep track of your purchases for you. *//* There's also no rush to select your free gift -- We can send you a voucher if you prefer, so you can wait until something hits the shop that really grabs your eye, OR we'll make a beautiful gift certificate that you can give to someone you love!
