Scott and Robin were best friends in high school in 1983 and 1984. Their love of art created a strong bond between them. After high school they both went to college for Graphic Design. Robin attended Ball State University in Indiana and Scott pursued his degree at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in Florida. Through the years they would run into each other off and on when Scott returned home from living in Florida while he was visiting relatives. Each time they would share their love of art in conversations. In 2009 Scott and Robin once again ran into each other after Scott had moved back to Indiana. They began talking about trying their hand at doing stoneware pottery. Austin Custer, their high school art teacher offered open pottery studio classes every Saturday in the basement of the local Art Center, so they decided to give it a try. They immediately found they had another shared passion, getting dirty in the clay! From that moment on the two friends began throwing pottery everyday, day in and day out. Over the course of a year the two developed and implemented the idea of forming a partnership called Willow's Keep Pottery. After starting Willow's Keep Pottery the two renovated Robin's small basement into a pottery studio. Armed with 1 pottery wheel and 1 kiln they began creating the unique pieces they collaborated on to create the Willow's Keep Pottery style. They began to refer to themselves as the "Basement Potters"! lol Sadly in August of 2012 Scott was diagnosed with Stage IV Melanoma Cancer. Scott continued to be as active as he could be in the studio despite his illness. On October 6th 2013 Scott passed away. He wanted Willow's Keep Pottery to continue through his life long friend, partner and his "Angel" Robin McBride Scott. Scott's creative passion and drive to create unique and spirit filled pottery continues on in the pieces that are created today at Willow's Keep Pottery.
