The Wolf Peach
WolfPeach's Shop Announcement
Welcome to the Wolf Peach, purveyor of thoroughly handcrafted, slightly whimsical, wholly enchanting, and highly useful potions & notions made with the wise woman tradition in mind.
Current offerings include "Good, Everyday" cloth napkins (as opposed to the fancy linen ones your family only uses during Christmas) and some pretty fabulous reusable cloth menstrual pads that I hope will exceed your expectations. I pride myself on creating pads that not only serve their intended purpose, but also act as a celebration of menstruation, womanhood, and our Earth.
I also pride myself on providing products that not only encourage mindfulness towards our planet's precious resources and fragile eco-system, but also offerings that make the everyday seem extraordinary.
As the weather warms up and my garden takes off, you can expect to find all the homegrown essentials needed to stock your potions cabinets and medicine chests, including whole herb tinctures, salves, teas, and perhaps even a mandrake root or two!
I am able to take custom orders on a first come, first served basis. I may not be able to get to it immediately, but please don't hesitate to convo me and ask!
***Essential Info***
-Orders are shipped on Wednesday mornings.
-Due to the nature of cloth menstrual products, I can't accept returns. However, if you are dissatisfied with your pad for any reasonable reason, we can definitely work out an arrangement.
-For the most part, I use bolt ends and fat quarters to make my products. This means I only get 2-3 items from each design, making each of my creations nearly one-of-a-kind. Thought you ought to know!
-Caring for Your Wolf Peach Pads & Picnic Napkins: I know everyone has a different method, but I've found, personally, that cloth stays prettier much, much longer if you wash in cold or warm water and hang dry. To remove lint and such, I usually put mine in the dryer for no more than 8 minutes, then take them out, and hang them on the clothesline. It's eco-friendly, cloth-friendly, AND they look pretty classy flapping in the warm Kentucky breeze. In the winter, I dry them on a rack by the fire.
What's in a name?
Aside from sounding at once sweet and a little dangerous (and therefore, impressively poetic), the name "Wolf Peach" comes from the fabulous realm of botany, namely the Latin word for "tomato"--Lycopersicon. Lyco=wolf; persicon=peach. Wolf Peach. Why? Because up until the end of the 17th century, it was believed that to consume a tomato would result in instant death. As a gardener, I have a minor obsession with heirloom tomatoes, so naturally, the name appealed to me. Furthermore, the perfectly delicious, gorgeous, scarlet-red tomato was maligned for centuries as something to be feared--much like menstruation! The name just seems to fit all the way around.
Besides, I like the logo (special thanks to my love-ah for this one)!
