Cloth and the expression of the needle is my life long passion - especially cloth that tells a story. I have connected with women in South Africa who stitch these remarkable stories in cloth to support their families. Each charming textile is one-of-a-kind, and expresses traditions or current life events of the maker. Pure folk art. I donate a portion of the profits from the sale of these embroideries, dolls and necklaces to the "Grandmother-to-Grandmother" campaign run by the Stephen Lewis Foundation to ease the burden on the amazing grandmothers who care for millions of orphans left by the HIV/AIDS pandemic sweeping Africa. Truly, the most important way we can help women is to empower them economically.
