‘afterWords POEtry That Sticks’, are word magnet kits from my original photographs of common names from gravestones throughout historic New England.
I'm a photographer and this is my first project using photographs of common words from uncommon sources for folks to arrange the words to write their own poems!
As a visual artist and writer ‘afterWords POEtry That Sticks’ began as a photographic, creative endeavor . The intent was the same - to write word poems with these pictures of words from an uncommon source. Taking the photographs over the course two years, my idea was re-visioned as interactive "word-smithing" for all.
As photographs, the lighting, texture and scale create each magnet word as unique and artful leading to hundreds of poetic options.
afterWords magnets sheets are manufactured at a ‘green’ facility. Each set is still well cared for, with the original stickers applied and magnets boxed one by one, by hand in the studio in Providence, R.I.
