Welcome to the online shop of www.birdhousejewelry.com.

Birdhouse Jewelry is based in New York and is run by two people, Amy and Alen Lapierre, from their studio on a very quiet waterfront street in NYC. You will find well-made, fun designs in gold and silver jewelry - all with affordable prices.

Most pieces are cast or stamped out in brass and are finished with heavy sterling silver plating or heavy 18 karat yellow gold plating. Our casting is done in Istanbul and all gold and silver plating is done domestically here in the US. All designing, original models and fabrication are done by Alen Lapierre and Amy Lapierre in their studio in New York.

NONE of the pieces contain any lead or nickel. Nickel is the enemy! Who isn't allergic to it? And lead is poisonous and illegal to cast in. Wondering about the brass here? It's a mix of pure copper and pure zinc, and is very durable in jewelry making and makes your life fun because it's allergy free and pretty low cost. Sigh of relief. Raw brass jewelry turns brownish-black over time and leaves tarnish on your skin (ick) so we plate our work heavily with either shiny sterling silver or shiny 18 karat yellow gold. Yay!

Birdhouse Jewelry has a booth every Saturday and Sunday at Brooklyn Flea, held on Saturdays 10-5 in an outdoor schoolyard in Fort Greene and Sundays 11-6 in Dumbo, Brooklyn, directly under the Brooklyn Bridge, in the park along Water Street near the end of Old Fulton Street. Walking over the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn and visiting Dumbo and Birdhouse Jewelry's booth at Brooklyn Flea underneath the bridge is a great Sunday activity. And starting Nov 27 GIFTED starts! It is a holiday gifts/craft market popup run by the same people who run Brooklyn Flea. It will be located at Lafayette and East 4th in Manhattan and will be open Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun all December from approx. noon until 8pm. Wednesday nights will be the "late night" til about 9,9:30 ish - with holiday cheer cocktails.
