Anangka Arts provides printed magick. As an artist and a witch, I teeter on the fringes between art and fetish. Material, like seeds and human hair, often find their way into my work. Collage, a ready medium, works like the Jungian sand tray as I cut and paste—these images unfold in their own archetypal synthesis. In the recreation of such mythos, I am but the medium in the larger sphere of the collective unconscious. Along with pen and ink, I employ a technique I call “pencil painting.” I also work in charcoal, assemblage mixed media sculpture and the lost art of printmaking.
My greeting cards are printed by the certified P.A.C.E (Partners for a Clean Environment), local, sustainable and independent printer, Copy Experts. They use 100% wind power, quality recycled papers and aim at re-forestation (aggressive South American tree planting) and 90% waste diversion. My original collages use at least 75% upcycled materials (old magazines, books, calendars, broken fairy lights, lost beads, fabric scraps, doll parts, stale seeds, and other found, lost, broken, misprinted, neglected, abused, thrown out and/or dumpster-dived objects). My fine art prints, are not as environmentally savvy BUT are museum quality, archival Giclees. I currently have a few prints created using earth "friendlier" materials, which are also vegan. Please contact me if you need a vegan order.
I have an art show up at Dot's Diner on 28th Street. Pencil, collage and assemblage, come see!!!
On December 3rd, 2010 at the Lincoln Gallery (Naropa University Main Campus) I have an art opening called "Sideshow." It is from 5:30-7:30 with live music, food and refreshments. The show features my paper and plywood dolls based on various sideshow attractions from the 19th and 20th centuries. A friend of this project is: www.sideshowworld.com Preserving the Past....Promoting the Future of Sideshow.
