Opened December 11, 2011. Let's go to the Beach!
My first Slice of the Beach was an accident, an accident that I quickly fell in love with!
I love the ocean and am interested in using many different types of media in my sea related art. Most of my paintings of the ocean used to be on 12” x 24” canvases or boards. Well one day I was scrambling around at nearly the last minute to find a piece of canvas that I could use to paint a sunset for a friend as a birthday gift. I couldn’t find any blank canvas, so I cut off a 4” x 12” piece of a seascape I painted on an island in the Atlantic, held it up and said to my husband, John, “Look! It’s a Slice of the Beach!”. He loved it too.
Today I make Slices in different sizes and shapes. I paint some on location, many on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, but some as far away as Aruba and the Bahamas, and I paint others in my studio. I can create your own custom Slice from your favorite photograph (or send me to your favorite beach so that I can paint it on location! ☺).
I can also paint in initials in a heart drawn in the sand (in my case “JP + JP”), or something similar, if you want to customize your own Slice of the Beach. See the “Sand Writing” section of my Etsy store for examples. These are only available in 4” x 12” sizes, but after creating a customized 4” x 12” Slice for you, I could also offer that image to you in any of the other formats available in my store.
A Slice of the Beach is a perfect gift for any gift occasion, personal or professional, or as a bright accent for your Christmas Tree, office, home or beach house.
