Welcome to A Summer Afternoon! We are a husband and wife team making wooden cars, rattles, teethers, blocks, developmental toys, Waldorf and Montessori toys. All items are made with love out of quality, natural, eco-friendly materials, and tested by our 2-year-old and 6-month-old boys. Whenever possible, we use untreated re-purposed wood, and recycled packaging materials.

We started this business so that we could really enjoy this time as a family while our boys are young, and because we wanted our boys to have quality, natural toys that are handmade in the USA. When coming up with designs for our toys, we always keep in mind developmental skills we would love to encourage in our own two boys, such as fine and gross motor, sorting, counting, and especially creativity and imagination!

You are sure to love the classic design of our cars and trucks as much as you will love the creativity and imagination they inspire!

Our Wooden teethers are made of quality hardwoods, sanded to satin smoothness, and finished with a food-grade beeswax wood finish. Soothing to a baby's gums, and simultaneously fun to play with!

All of the rest of our items are finished with either non-toxic, kid-safe linseed oil (comes from flaxseed) or natural food-safe beeswax!

We are currently unable to accommodate any custom orders due to the amount of holiday fairs and sales we are needing inventory for!
