BabaYagas's Shop Announcement

Once there was, and once there was not, an old woman named Baba Yaga. She was older than dirt when the World was born, and she's even older now. Her home is an enchanted hut which stands firmly perched on the single disembodied leg of a giant chicken. On this towering limb the house dances and whirls, and only Baba Yaga knows the words that sooth it into stillness. It is into this hut that Baba Yaga will crawl to make her magic, and sleep her dreams away.

Baba Yaga has had many names and faces over the ages. Some stories will tell you that she is a wicked old witch that will eat your children and curse your crops. Others will tell you that she is a wise crone, with a magic to be respected rather than feared. This Baba Yaga will tell you that she is neither. This Baba Yaga will tell you that she is just a woman. A woman trying to bring a little more beauty into the world in the only ways she knows how. And, if what Baba Yaga finds beautiful is scary to others, well... then maybe they SHOULD be eaten after all.

The items listed here are all hand-crafted using an old folk art called Needle Felting. The foundation of each creation is a hunk of unspun wool, poked and poked with a long barbed needle until it knots itself into a solid form. Once the item has a form, any number of colors and fibers are then poked right on top, around or underneath. Eventually, after much poking, a fuzzy creation is born. If you'd like to see how it's done, please visit Baba's home at www.dancinghut.com. (Site still under construction, sorry!)

Thank you for visiting Baba Yaga's, and remember to check back often! You never know what kind of creepy, crawly creation will pop up – or what magical being will manifest.
