About me:
My name is Ali and I am a 22 year old college student living in a small apartment in North Carolina. I was lucky enough to learn leather craft from my parents. My Dad started Backstreet Leather in 1974 on a table made from salvaged floorboards and an old phone booth in the Cameron Village subway in Raleigh NC. My parents met when my mom came in to get a leather key chain with daisies on it, and the rest is history. I started doing leather work around age 8. My parents still have a small, family run shop called Backstreet Leather at the Fairgrounds Flea market in Raleigh, NC.

Growing up surrounded by all the tools and materials I needed, my creativity was free to roam.
My style is a giant jumble of contrasting elements, just like my personality. I am inspired by music, art, history, nature and travel, and my designs reflect those inspirations.
The items you see in this shop are all handmade. Our other little corner of the web, Backstreetleather.com features both our handmade work as well as manufactured items like jackets, chaps and hats.

When you order something and the item in stock is not your size, and I need to make another one to fit you, it may be up to two weeks before I can ship it. Usually I will be able to make it within a week of ordering. If you need something rushed, please contact me! It is also WAY easier to talk via phone than back and forth through messaging. If you are in the United States and think it would help to talk via phone, include your phone number in your order and I'll call you. its much more efficient!
