Green Wedding Baskets: What is "green" about Green Wedding Baskets? They are made with wild, natural vines and other plants that are gathered sustainably and woven fresh, by me, one at a time. No chemicals or pesticides. This contrasts with baskets purchased in florist and home decor shops. Commercial baskets, though woven by hand, are almost always imported from Indochina. There materials are often treated with chemicals (like diesel fuel) to peel them or make them ready for weaving. This includes the "reed" that many basket weavers in the US make into baskets. Reed and finished baskets, when imported to the US, are routinely fumigated to deter agricultural pests. Horsehair Baskets: The horsehair baskets in these photos are so small that the images is more than 10x larger than the actual item. Each hair is clearly visible on your computer monitor, and some of what you see on your monitor you possibly will not be able to see with your naked eye...unless you are very nearsighted, or use a magnifying glass. Actual items for sale are shown in each photo, so you get what you see.
