Most of the seaglass that washes ashore today is quite old, and many pieces possibly date back decades or perhaps a century or more. It is believed that with the decline of the manufacture of glass bottles and the continued use of plastics, eventually there will be no more glass washing onto our beaches. I find myself wondering if the glass came from one of the hundreds of shipwrecks that litter the bottom of the lake, or if it is just a remnant from a fisherman’s discarded bottle.
