Beads for Development uses handmade clay beads made by a women's bead-making collective in a small village in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I founded Beads for Development after returning from volunteering with a non-profit in Burkina Faso, where I helped to establish the women's bead-making collective. Beads for Development aims to help the women earn their own income, helping them to support their families and to raise the status of women in the village. I buy the beads from the collective at fair prices and ship them to the US, where I design and create the jewelry. I send a percentage of my profit to the nonprofit that directs development projects in the women's small village. By supporting Beads for Development you help to support the African women's bead-making collective!
