Beadsite's Shop Announcement

Greek ceramic beads, multi-colored + silver coated, large and small. Incredibly useful flat washers in over 40 colours. Antique silver, gold, copper, patinated copper and brass also available. Fast service and very competitive prices. Often incorrectly said to be made on Mykonos. Trading as "Beadnut" on Etsy for many years, but moving over to Beadsite so folk can find me more easily.

These are ceramic based beads - so a clay bead is made in a kiln, fired, then coated in a layer of copper, fired in the kiln again and then coated in a layer of fine silver (approximately 99.9% silver)or 24K gold or more copper. It is a much thicker layer than plating on metal. I liken it to dipping a biscuit in melted chocolate :)

The beads have a nice weight to them. They are unlikely to cause allergic reactions in folk that are nickel sensitive. Remember, as they are covered in real silver or copper, they can be patinated in liver of sulphur. They are extremely hard wearing, beautifully shiny and as they tarnish over time they can be lightly buffed up with a silver cloth. They are chunky and just a bit different to using Bali or Thai silver. They work really well with lampwork beads in particular.
