Many of my supplies are purchased in Istanbul and reflect the design and materials of Eastern Europe and the Middle East. I used a lot of dark silver tones, copper and evil eye beads, all very popular in the region.

Evil eyes are believed to protect the wearer from bad luck, misfortune or injury. In Turkey, the beads are referred to as nazar boncuğu or nazarlık. It is common to find these beads adorning business, houses, cars, babies, and on the spectacular jewelry of Turkish women.
