Each of my mixed-media assemblages is a miniature museum or cabinet of curiosities, featuring preserved or dried sea creatures and natural-historical specimens, stones and seashells, fragments of antique books, manuscripts, newspapers, photographs and postcards, and small objects ranging from dice and marbles to magnifying lenses and pocketwatch parts. I collect these items from all over the world, embed them in blocks of glass-like resin, and mount them in antique wooden boxes or frames that might be painted, collaged, stained, or covered in different fabrics and fine art papers. These sculptures form windows into worlds both tangible and imaginary: three-dimensional, layered, suggestive and associative, like our memories and dreams. Please do come in for a look around…
