Broken Leash Leather started, as fate would have it, by my dog. It was a bright and beautiful, sunny southern California day, and I was taking my dog Mandi, a shepherd-dobie mix at about 90lbs., out to do some training with her (we had just started her in dog obedience classes at 9 years old. We adopted her from my wife's parents who were moving). I had her old leather leash in hand, and had just closed the clasp of her leash on her collar when my wife came out the patio door. Well, Mandi really likes my wife (since she lets her get away with more than I do, but that's okay) and took off at a full run. With a leash of only six feet, it was pretty quick when she got to the end of it. I stayed put, setting myself against the likely painful jerk Mandi was about to give me. But when she reached the end, the leash snapped in two, and Mandi got to see my wife and I fell on my rear.
And Broken Leash Leather was born. We still have and use the leash I made that weekend for Mandi for walks and during bath time (in which EVERYONE gets a bath). That was in early 2006, and the leash is still in great condition. The style is still a top seller for us.
From that point on, we have expanded into many different areas, due mostly impart to taking on any customer needs. We have done many custom leashes and collars, handtooled and handcraft handbags, wallets, phone case, and other daily use items. I am also into the Renaissance Faires and Festivals, and make leather mugs, called blackjacks, for these occasions. Recently I have learned bookbinding and make custom designed, handtooled journals for all occasions.
I hope you enjoy browsing through our items. Please let us know if we can design and make something just for you!
God Bless and happy tails and trails!
