Ceramic tile , dishes , and ornaments for home and garden are designed and created in my shop in Eugene ,Oregon . Each tile is signed "Heartseed " , my original business name , and a loop of high temperature wire is embedded in the back for hanging. Each piece is unique, hand made by me with care.
I work with low fire clay and cone 6 stoneware and porcelain clays . The stoneware clay is slab rolled, cut out with templates and textured with found objects or stamps I have made from wood, plaster, and clay. After slow drying the tiles are bisque fired and glaze fired to 2232 degrees F ( cone 6) .
The low fire clay is slab rolled and cut out with templates. Details are carved in with a pen when the clay dries to leather hard ( firm but not dry ) . Tiles are bisque fired and glazed with bright commercial glazes and fired to 1945 degrees F (cone 04 ) .
The ornaments, earrings and magnets are press molded from my original designs and molds I make . Each is glazed ,fired and finished with quality findings .
The little cat dishes are pinch formed from colored porcelain and have a clear food safe glaze .
I have played in the clay for over 25 years and always designing new items.
My exploration this year is ceramic and copper wind chimes and kinetic art .
