Announcing a Once in a Lifetime Sale on the two ready to ship sweaters I still have in stock. One is synthetic fibers, the other is all natural. Both are blue with hoods. Take a look and take advantage of this short term Sale!
What Is A Dorothy's Technicolor Sweater Dream Coat????? Dorothy is my first name, like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, the first technicolor movie ever made! Then you take J. K. Rowling's character, Molly Weasley, a master knitter and crocheter as well as a witch, a weaver of spells and a wonderful mother, combine her fantasy with my ability to crochet, pick & match colors, change stitches and make a crochet hook fly then you have a one of a kind, hand crocheted, originally designed sweater coat. It will be as original as you are. Prepare for feelings of euphoria, skipping down cobblestone streets, flying through the air, smiling ALL the time, and having a general feeling of optimism & hope. These sweaters inspire women who are warm, caring, fun, happy, intelligent and compassionate. And, like Molly Weasley, it takes a very special kind of woman with the right combination of desire to fight for what she believes in, face her challenges with her head up, maternal instincts and self confidence to wear one or many!
If you want to take this sweater to a coat level, Lisa Correia of
http://enlightenedplatypus.etsy.com, makes the most gorgeous sweater dream coats out of recycled sweaters. I crochet the sleeves for some of her coats. They are simply devine!
I also recycle sweaters but in a little bit different way - I take a vintage sweater who has been treated well in the past but needs a new forever home, replace the sleeves with my weasley sleeves, add a collar, hood, whatever strikes my fancy and wha-la, there's an old creation with a new magical outlook.

Pricing: In this day and time, during an economic downturn, I've been asked about buying an expensive custom handmade sweater. Yes, my sweaters are considered works of art but what does that mean to your pocketbook? My pricing is based on the cost of the materials used (high quality yarns, some are one of a kind art yarns, some with sequins and tinsel threads, some from the highest quality fiber farms in the world, gorgeous colorways that are not found in your average box stores, most are from other etsy artisans and some are from local fiber artists here in North Carolina), my lengthy and varied experience as a crochet artist (over 40 years), my ability to produce intricate, advanced crochet, my experience to make a garment that fits its owner to perfection, and my customer service. I strive to give excellent customer service and maintain close communication with my customers as they wait for their special item. These sweaters are truely one of a kind. I do not anticipate my prices rising any further than they are now any time in the near future (Unless the cost of yarn sky rockets). My Pricing is as follows:
Basic Classic Technicolor Sweater Dream Coat, Acrylic or Synthetic Yarns,
Ready to Ship: $250.00
Basic Classic Technicolor Sweater Dream Coat, Acrylic or Synthetic Yarns,

Cost of Additional items on Custom Order Sweaters are as follows:
Unique items can be added - such as crocheted flowers, ribbon stitching on the outside rows, hood, and other items. We can discuss as we design your sweater. The price list to add the following to a custom sweater is as follows:
1) Hood (this has to be ordered with a custom sweater beforehand because I need to be sure I have enough yarn to add the hood as the yarn is pulled or purchased) - $75.00
2) Patch pockets (usually attached to the front of the sweater at the height where your hands would slip into them to appreciate the warm polar fleece lining) - $12.50 each
3) Crocheted flowers (These can be made any size and placed anywhere on the sweater) - small $2.00 each, medium $3.00 each, large $4.00 each
4) Ribbon or fur fiber trim (This is a silk ribbon made in Wales that is hand made and hand dyed. It would be used in the sleeves as well as stitched around the outside edge. The fur fiber can be from either Wales or Italy and needs to be felt to be believed. Both fibers gives a fur feel and elegance without harming any animals) - $36.00
5) Either sweater style can be made duster length (mid calf) as well - $75.00 and additional shipping due to increased weight
I want to put the pricing up front. These sweaters are NOT cheap, and they are NOT cheap to make. They take about 7 to 10 days, some times longer, especially if I am waiting on a particular yarn. They are an investment. But when you get yours in the mail, I think you will find they are worth every penny. My customers are very satisfied and are in awe of the quality and beauty of each one as you can tell from my feedback.
If you choose to dream your own dream for a custom Dorothy's Technicolor Sweater Dream Coat, the process is as follows:
My Technicolor Sweater Dream Coats listings are examples of what I can do with a custom order. Please look them over, decide what fibers and colors you want in a sweater, then convo me and we'll conjure one up all your own. I could post color suggestions but the possibilities are as endless as your own imagination. Send me a picture or an article of clothing with all your favorite colors and I will match it. Dream a little dream and we will make it real. If a sweater is ready to ship, it will state that in the title.
My sleeves pattern is unlike any other here on etsy - I was inspired by three crochet artists including shelleden here on etsy. Now you have a choice of three different size bells, small (easier to handle, more like a bell you would see on a regular sweater), medium (a bit fuller, more color and swinging) and large (a fabulous bell, with tons of color, texture and magic), the stitches more intricate. My new Cozy bodice is fitted at the top and flares at the hips.
I've had customers tell me my sweaters exceed their expectations when they finally see them "in person." I love to watch the combinations come together then see the final total effect when they are done. Every time I make a set of sleeves, I conjure up my own magic. My belles can be any size and more like the sleeves on Molly's original sweater in the movie, The Chamber of Secrets. No two sweaters are the same and the results are striking.
I will start by pulling yarns according to the color palette you tell me you want. I'll send you a picture of the exact yarns to be used in your sweater to make sure you are satisfied with the combinations. You will receive an estimate on when the sweater will be started and an estimate on when it will be finished. My custom order list is in my policies section under Custom Orders. There you can check my progress as I approach your sweater. I will convo you when I start, and again when the sleeves are finished. At that point I'll send you pictures of your sleeves and three choices of wooden buttons made by etsy artisans. Again, as it progresses, you will be kept apprised and when it is ready to be listed for your final payment and shipping (unless you paid for it in full upfront), I'll let you know. You are part of the process all the way through. Of course, you could order one of my ready made sweaters or a vintage sweater and skip the whole custom made process altogether.
You will receive exactly the piece shown in photos unless otherwise stated in the description. I ship Priority Mail, 2 - 3 day delivery in the continental US, with delivery confirmation. If you need it faster than that, please convo me first before placing the order. If International Shipping is needed, please convo me first for an international shipping price quote. I'll reserve the item for you, and add the price quote we agree on.
Custom orders do have a longer shipping time (because I have to make them....). All custom orders require a 50% non-refundable deposit up front - see Shop Policies for details. And, I must receive final payment for the finished sweater within 30 days of its final Listing. Alternate pay plans can be arranged BEFOREHAND, if necessary. Just convo me. The prices for custom made items are a little higher than my ready made items because of the time, effort and extra materials/fibers involved in making sure your finished item is exactly what you want and you receive a true piece of Wearable Art.
All items are made in a smoke free home. All yarns and crocheted items are stored in dust free pouches that keep the fibers clean and fresh.
And, I want to thank the other artists on etsy who are imitating what I am doing with my sleeves because it has been said "the best flattery is imitation". CCDZS is the original and the first one to put these whimsical sleeves on a vintage sweater or a recycled sweater dream coat! Just a word of caution though, another etsy artist is selling her pattern for a sweater dream coat. She is using some of MY photos in her pattern to "depict" her pattern. It is both dishonest and misleading. Her pattern is nothing like mine. The ONLY place to get sleeves made like mine is CCDZS!
