Welcome to Chandra's Box of Stars, where you will find curious characters drawn from the realm of the imagination and hand crafted with the best quality materials. I have been creating artdolls professionally since 2001, and I am a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and the Eclectic Halloween Artists Group.
My work has been characterized as mixed media, because of the various levels of craft and the variety of materials involved in the creation of each piece. Most obviously my little people are sculptures, but there is quite a bit of fiber art applications used in my work. Free motion embroidery is a technique that I frequently employ, and it is best understood as a process in which I manipulate fabric beneath a moving sewing machine needle to literally "draw" with thread. This is not accomplished by simply programming my machine, as every squiggly line of thread created for embellishment has been done by hand.
