Hand painted! What's the difference? It is "one" with the fabric. No shiny, sticky or coating on top that may possibly peel or crack at a later date. The paint I use penetrates the fabric, and the art will last FAR longer than the bag ever will!! Absolutely no cracking or peeling - ever! I often recommend when the bag wears out (sorry, but as great as my bags are they will eventually wear out. Life happens!) simply cut out the art and apply/stitch/glue to another bag! The art is FOREVER! Paint is awesome!

My VINTAGE MILITARY BAGS go through an extensive cleaning, deodorizing and sanitizing process. It’s very time consuming (and really no fun at all!) but I would want nothing less than CLEAN in a bag I purchased. Even with the rigorous cleaning, some may retain a tiny bit of the decades old military musty scent - generally only the ones with leather. Even then it’s very minor, and will go away in time. You can be sure all my bags are as clean as they will ever be!

HAND PAINTED! Awww yeah! I am so proud and pleased to offer ONLY hand painted and vintage bags. It fits so well with the Handmade venue that IS Etsy. Are there quicker, less expensive ways to reproduce an image? Of course! And I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t checked them out. BUT…I always come back to Hand Painted. Granted it does take more time, therefore a few more $ than other methods, but one can be proud to say, “Hey, it’s hand painted.” It’s so very, very cool.

Each item takes (minimally) three layers of paint. Depending on the canvas or leather it could take more depending on the color, vintage, etc. So many variables! It is truly a labor of love for me and my two assistants. Granted…they don’t provide much actual painting assistance. At best, they clamor for biscuits or a pat on the head. Try as I might, they just can’t seem to hold a paint brush – must be that thumb thing! But they do offer tremendous moral support, along with a bark or two, while I paint the days away ;-)
