DANSDWARFCONIFERS' Shop Announcement

Welcome to Dan’s Dwarf Conifers!

Dwarf conifers add a unique look to the landscape, due to all the different shapes and colors. Interesting rocks can complement conifers quite nicely, but the big advantage to dwarf conifers is that when planted they will not quickly take over and can be kept in a small space with little or no pruning.

TIPS for selecting the right conifer for your planting site…

Read the description of any plant you are considering to make sure its growth habit will fit the space you are planning for your plant. For example, under a window you chose a bun shape or prostrate plant or a conifer that has fairly slow growth habit, so as not to grow up quickly and block your view. Some conifers grow tall but stay narrow. These conifers would be a good choice for a narrow space that has room to grow up.

Weeping conifers need to be staked, but can be trained to fit the space resulting in a nice addition to any landscape.

Each plant is provided with a temperature rating, but this is not the only thing that will determine if a particular conifer will do well in your area. The best method to know if a conifer will do well is to look around your neighborhood. For example, if Abies are not used in landscapes, but there are lots of pine, that may be an indication of what works well in your area. Also, there may be a horticulture expert in your area that can give advice to the species that do well in your area.

Each plant I grow is hand propagated by grafting or rooting and grown in my nursery in Oregon. My goal is not to just sell you a plant, but for it to be a success in your landscape.
