I've been deep into metal clay work in silver and copper, with three firings in the last two days, and more to come. Many new components are waiting to be worked into talismans and new pieces will be showing up here soon, including some new rings and anklets. Meanwhile, all of the cacti are blooming in brilliant magenta and lemon yellow outside the studio window...I hope you're enjoying the approach of summer as much as I am!
Desert Blessings,
Dawn

My work currently flows in two streams: Desert Primitive, and Drylands Incantations. The Desert Primitive talismans are the children of my soul: primal and elemental, they evoke a timeless Dreamtime world centered in the American Desert Southwest. They feature unusual stones, materials or ethographic talismans and are completely handcrafted. While I work I am in a meditative, quiet space, infusing each talisman with beneficial energies and my prayers and blessings for you...the unseen energy at the heart of each piece is the true center of my work. Each piece is sent to you beautifully packaged in a hand-decorated gift box or handmade Tarahumara Indian basket.
The Drylands Incantations line is more lighthearted but each piece is still made to be a bearer of blessing energy. This stream of work has a magical flavor with a Wild West twist, drawing upon the diverse cultures of the Southwest and beyond. These fun, quirky pieces are more charm and amulet-oriented, and feature found and vintage objects. Pieces in the Drylands Incantations series are packaged in delightful, one-of-a-kind collage boxes inspired by their magical world.
I do my best to photograph and describe each item carefully, and my shop policy section is as thorough as I can make it. Please read through these, and if you find that they don't answer your questions, contact me through Etsy. As one of my customers, I will stay in touch with you throughout our transaction until I am sure you have your talisman safely and are satisfied! I also have a photo journal blog, which you might enjoy checking out, at www.deserttalismans.blogspot.com.
Thanks for stopping in, and I hope you enjoy your look around!
