I am a studio furniture maker working in wood, metal and glass. I love the way that wood, glass and metal play off each other. Wood has this soft, silky quality with beautiful, subtle colour and depth. Glass is fantasic for it’s bright dense colour, optics and textures and metal can have both warm and cold charactaristics depending on the finish. Combined, they are a lucious treat for the senses. The real challenge is harnessing their different qualities in a coherent work.

I most enjoy working in a modern, contemporary style. I love sculpture, so I am striving in my work to bring the sulptural and functional together. I describe my work as ‘modern contemporary’ because, apart from my own idiosyncratic style, I am influenced by styles and movements of the 20th and the 21st century. I am primarily interested in Modernism and it’s younger, more flamboyant sibling, Art Deco.
