They are small 3 dimensional pieces. I use colored pencil and water colors on shrinkable plastics incorporating these drawings with a range of mixed media to render anatomically-themed dioramas of the subconscious mind.
Like most human beings, I wake up from a dream feeling like a deep-sea diver swimming for the surface. Yet in those first few desperate moments of rushing to fill my lungs comes the desire to reach back into the darkness for something just out of reach and slipping quickly away; something that only seconds earlier held me firmly in its grip, like the hand of wisdom, in which I could feel the pulse of transcendent truth. Like the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, I believe that my unconscious has been trying to teach me something. It is with my art that I attempt to recover it. I think of my creative process as a kind of dream anatomy. I hope the result will breathe life into something that previously was formless, art that animates vibrant knowledge—a kind of freeing knowledge.
