September brought the Colorado Mountain Plein-Air Festival. The craziest thing that happened to me was the paint-out at Collegiate Peaks Overlook. I wanted to get there by first light - which meant to be up there before 7 A.M. Temp. was 28 F . [When I paint en plein air, I use water-soluable oil paints - my favorite being Winsor and Newton Artisan.] As I started painting, my brushes got stiffer and stiffer, as did my paints. Finally, after an hour, I could paint no more. My paints had frozen and so was I. I left to get something hot to drink. When I came back, may painting was MELTING! It was very oriental looking. Painted another that didn't freeze. Great camaraderie for those of us who stuck out the cold and early morning light.

Long live the creative vision!

Living in the Arkansas River Valley of Colorado, I am inspired by the ongoing views and interactions of mountains, clouds, and wildlife. The purity of form becomes an evolution of abstraction which constantly urges me to look in new ways. May you be so inspired!
