~~ WHAT'S NEW? ~~ (Nov 19, 2009)

HUGE CHANGES!!

ANNOUNCING: The opening of our sister shop...

Great deals on Superwash, at ...(drum roll)...(4 oz for $10)
Dyeing for Fibre Works! ( www.dyeingforfibreworks.etsy.com )

At long last our dream has come true, and we are opening a millworks! The equipment is up and running, and there will soon be blends coming for spinners in rovings that will make you drool.. all those wonderful crazy things you usually only see in batts, will be in rovings and available at awesome prices. And the yarns.. I have sold handspun for many years, but never put it on etsy, so it will be in the Fibre Works shop as well. And then there are the sock yarns..they are coming too...
So tell all your knitter friends, and keep an eye on that shop for things to come. Most of the blends will be slowly removed from this shop, and listed in that one, if you are looking for them. Also, if you want to buy things from both shops, let me know and I will adjust things so you don't get overcharged for shipping.
Our first run of rovings is here! Purple, blue, mauve, blue bamboo.. look for Enchanted Mist!

The BAMBINO is back! Lots of new colourways listed today.

OOAK = One Of A Kind

Coming Soon ... CVM (what is CVM?) It's a gorgeous breed of sheep..long, crimpy locks, lots of natural colours..soon...

***** Customers please note *****
Due to shipping costs per ounce varying wildly, I have found that the most fair system to everyone is to pay what is listed here on the site, and then for the larger orders I refund through Paypal any excess shipping costs; there are no handling charges, just the actual shipping.
I am happy to ship internationally, also.

It's HERE!!!
Presenting;
Dyeing For Colour's BAMBINO!!
CUSTOM BLENDED 70% feltable merino top/ 30% bamboo (made just for me) is now available for sale. For this one of a kind blend I chose to go with 30% bamboo to give the felters and needlefelters a chance to get in on the shiny, beautiful bamboo that so many are working with, and also for the many spinners who just don't like superwash. This roving will be completely blended so that the wool will catch the bamboo when felting, and add that special shine to your piece. I have test felted it and it felts like a dream - check the CALICO listing.

.

Welcome to Dyeing for Colour. I work outside the box in terms of colours, and colourways, and hope you enjoy what I make as much as I do. I offer Seawool, Bamboo/Superwash, dyed Merino rovings, loose fibre, sample packs, dyed fleeces (Cotswold, Border Leicester, Bluefaced Leicester, Wensleydale, Mohair); rovings in Bamboo, Soysilk, Tussah Silk, and Firestar.
I have found a new supplier of mohair (angora) and the kid that I have and will continue to get is the absolute best, softest, cleanest quality around.
I have also found a steady supply of excellent Border Leicester in both lamb and adult, in natural and colours, and will continue to carry that.
If you would like to play with one of my more exotic fibres, but you don't have a carder (and don't like hand carders - like myself) it's easy to work it into your project. Spinners; keep your silk, soysilk, bamboo or mohair next to you, and every so often just add a tiny touch, just a few fibres, to your main colour as it goes on the wheel. Keep it varied, and it gives a beautiful touch of shine and interest, using very little fibre and with no preparation. Felters and needlefelters; add several thin layers of feltable fibre and silky fibres on top of one another, then pull them apart between your hands, lay one on top of the other, do it again. Think of shuffling cards. Felt as usual. It works by allowing the wool fibres to grab each other around the non-feltable, and keep them in place.
