Handspun yarn and art yarn with a pagan sensibility and a focus on wool from heritage and rare sheep breeds. I am a knitter as well as a spinner, so I work hard to make sure everything I create--no matter how wild it may look-- is well constructed and as functional as it is beautiful. Besides knitting, my yarn is excellent for crochet, weaving, felting, and craft embellishment--and many of my skeins can simply be worn as-is, for unique fiber art statement jewelry.
I use low-impact professional acid dyes and plant dyes exclusively. I never use dangerous toxic mordants.
Fensalir (FEN-sa-leer) or Marsh Hall is the palace of the Norse goddess Frigga, who is said to spin the destinies of men and women. I chose to name my shop after Frigga's hall because this image, for me, embodies all of the magic that is inherent in spinning, the fiber arts, and creativity itself. My yarn and wearable fiber designs are inspired by nature, folklore, magic, and the romance of past eras, and are spun with lots of love in Eugene Oregon on one (or both) of my two pampered, cherished wheels.
My goal is to provide the kind of quality handspun yarn (and unique fiber art accessories) I would want to create with or wear, designed for those with exacting yet somewhat offbeat tastes and interests--like me!
