Each porcelain luster piece is one of a kind, museum quality luster, fine porcelain and representative of an art beloved for centuries.

Lustered pieces are painted with mineral based over glaze paints that are so named because of the beautiful luster which is only seen after firing in a kiln. Sadly, due to the inumerable sparkles of light, the pictures of them are not as beautiful as the actual pieces.

Luster painted porcelain pieces are using an ancient secret art first known in 9th century Persia. Princes traveling from Persia to Paris took the first luster art pieces to the royal courts of Europe. The art was exquisically beautiful and the six out of a hundred pieces that were successfully fired brought payment in gold. It was not until the 18th century that European artisans were able to duplicate the technique. Today's listers remain temperamental and there are few artists who have perfected the art. This centuries old technique, the age old Persian colors and the unpredictability of luster art comprise the tradition carried forward in this luster art piece.

Each china painted piece has been painted with a process first used in China more than 2000 years ago. I have meticulously painted the design many times and kiln fired it to over 1300 degrees each time. My paints are the highest quality finely ground glass that at the proper temperature becomes one with the glaze. It is my hope that your porcelain piece will be treasured as an heirloom to be passed to future generations.
