How to mix henna
There is not an exact science to mixing henna powder into henna paste. Through trial and error we have found the following recipe to work best for us.
You will need:
* 25-50 Grams of henna powder
* Lemon Juice
* Sugar or Fructose
* Essential Oil or Terp (henna oil)
Add 25 grams of dry henna powder to a glass/pyrex mixing bowl. Add lemon juice (cold or room temperature is ok) to henna powder until consistency is that of mashed potatoes or toothpaste. If you added too much lemon juice, just add more henna powder. Add 1/2 table spoon of sugar or fructose and mix until blended completely.
Add 6-10 drops of essential or terp oil of your choice. The stronger the scent of the oil, the less drops you will need. Mix the oil into your paste.
Cover the top of the bowl with plastic wrap. Let paste sit under a lamp or at 70ยบ F for at least four hours, but no longer than 24 hours.
In this time you will see the henna paste go through a "color release" process. The bottom half of your mixing bowl will show a lighter green paste, while the top will show a darker shade of green or brown.
Your paste is now ready to use. You can fill your choice of applicator and start designing. Unused paste should be stored in carrot bags or zip lock bags in a freezer or refrigerator.
Many of you have asked for these instructions, so I am going to post them in a more obvious place. I also have a video tutorial online http://www.youtube.com/FreeHandMehndi
Please take advantage of the videos. I do not send printed instructions with the kits, because it is a waste of paper. Most of us have internet, and can watch the videos or can print the instructions if so desired.
