After years of playing with dewar flasks and other scientific glassware in my bar and kitchen, I got enough people asking if I could make some of the more interesting things for them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Everyone needs a bit more mad science in their life!
Beer is meant to be consumed at the temperature it comes off the tap. As the weather warms up, you want your beer to be at its coldest to the last drop and a Stein of Science is the way to keep it there.
For simplicity, the preferred payment method I accept is Paypal. Checks and money orders are accepted but will have to clear before I can ship. All items are sent insured to make sure the steins arrive in one piece and that I can easily replace the item if they break it.
If you are local to me in the SF Bay Area, it is possible that we can arrange a hand off.
To answer a few questions off the bat:
1) The Steins Of Science Are Built With New Dewars - I could save a buck by using used dewars but I won't. Don't trust any used labware because you don't know what's been done to it or, more importantly, around it because you are now intending to use it with food.
2) Dewar Flasks Are Scientific Glassware - This, obviously, is not the use for which dewars were originally intended. They are delicate scientific apparatus and should be treated kindly. They are prone to shattering in a spectacular manner due to the vacuum should they break. One reason I use full aluminum shield dewars is to protect you in the event the worst should happen.
3) The Steins Of Science Are Not Dishwasher Safe - Handwashing is the name of the game. Putting it in the dishwasher may break the dewar.
4) The Steins Of Science Are Not Microwave Safe - With as much metal as this stein has, it will destroy your microwave and leave interesting scorch marks all over your stein.
5) Handedness - This is a matter of how I do the facing of the worm gear on the straps for aesthetic pleasure. A gear clonking your lower lip when you sip is no fun and should be placed accordingly.
I welcome all proponents of Scientific Drinking to come visit me at the Funranium Labs website, www.funraniumlabs.com, to see the steins in action and other experiments in progress or follow on Facebook; just search for the Funranium Labs page.
NOTE: The Black Blood of the Earth is not available here for shipment. See the "Coffee News" on www.funraniumlabs.com for more details.
