ABOUT GAIA CONCEPTIONS

All Gaia Conceptions clothing is designed by artist Andrea who uses only certified organic and sustainable fabrics which have inspired simple, timeless, and ethical designs rooted in comfort and multifunction. Each garment is hand cut and sewn based on your size choice or measurement for a custom fit (not tailored). Finally each piece is hand dyed using natural plant dyes or fiber reactive low impact dyes. Every item is made at the Gaia House studio from start to finish in beautiful North Carolina.

We offer an extensive range of separates designed to be worn together, layered or apart. The Gaia collection is the perfect juxtaposition -- elegant yet relaxed, sophisticated and rustic, polished yet casual. Each piece compliments the other, yet stands alone in strength and style.

Because all pieces are hand cut, sewn, and dyed please expect variations in each garment. These subtle differences should be celebrated as the mark of a hand made piece created especially for you!

HOW TO ORDER

PLEASE SELECT YOUR SIZE AND COLOR CHOICE FOR EACH ITEM WHEN ORDERING. Also please feel free to include your measurements if you fall into 2 sizes and need garment tweaked a little.

SIZE:
We will custom make your item once order is placed based on your size choice or measurements and color choice. Please use the size chart found in the description with each items to determine your general size.

RELAXED FIT – order one size up from your measurement

GENERAL FIT - order the size closest to your measurements, it is normal for your garment to be a little tight at first, it will relax out after 15-20 mins of wearing

FITTED FIT – order one size down from measurements, this will be pretty tight at first and should relax out after wearing for 15-20 mins. This is only recommended if you have ordered a general fit from us before and are confident the one size down is going to give you the fitted look you prefer.

TOPS AND DRESSES – go with your bust and hip measurements

BOTTOMS – go with your hip measurement

HOW TO TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS:
You can see an image here....
https://www.etsy.com/listing/151350959/gaia-conceptions-size-chart?

BUST-this includes your breast, not your bra size
WAIST-smallest part torso
HIP-largest part of hip measurement
ARM-from armpit to wrist
INSEAM- from crotch to desired length
LENGTH (for dresses)- armpit to desired length
LENGTH (for skirts) - measurement from area of hip where you plan to wear skirt to desired length

♥ If this is your first time ordering custom clothing I recommend getting 1-2 items to get an idea of fit before placing a large order

♥ It is always helpful to have your measurements but please note that if you tell us your hip measurement is 35 and then order a size small we will assume you are doing so because you want a relaxed fit. We will not correct you to the x-small that matches your measurements. The same would apply to you ordering a small with a bust measurement of 38, we will assume you are doing this for a more fitted fit. In other words your size choice will override your measurements unless you tell us otherwise.

♥ I can work with measurements up to 51 inches

COLOR:
Each Garment is dyed by hand with fiber reactive dyes or natural dyes. The color chart is located in image 5 with most items. For the best idea of color refer to clothing images and there is a description of all my colors in my profile.
*IMPORTANT NOTE ON COLOR* - Colors will vary depending on your computers color settings and from dye bath to dye bath. This is the nature of dyeing things by hand on organic fabrics.
✳ Even the same fabric can take the dye differently due to seasonal changes that are more prominent in non GMO organic fiber crops, all colors will be lighter on my cotton fabrics, and any slight tone variations due to the hand dyeing process will even out during first few washing.

THE FABRICS I USE ARE THE FOLLOWING: for in depth description visit my PROFILE page. http://www.etsy.com/people/gaiaconceptions or http://www.gaiaconceptions.com/

CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTONS - are grown in Texas and India (fair trade), ginned in North Carolina, and made into fabric in South Carolina. These are my most sustainable fabrics and I offer a Light Weight Knit, Stretchy Lycra, French Terry Lycra, and a thin Tissue Paper Weight Knit. These fabrics are very soft and smooth.

HEMP/CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON BLENDS - These fabrics are a bit thicker and more textured when compared to the organic cotton and are grown and manufactured in China (fair trade). It is offered in a light to med Weight Knit, French Terry, Woven Summer Cloth, Fleece, or a Stretchy Lycra.

ORGANIC MERINO WOOLS - These fabrics are soft, warm, and 100% NOP certified organic knit Merino wools from Vermont. A superior quality wool that embodies all of the intuitive characteristics we have come to love about wool. It is available in a Fuzzy Knit, Smooth Stretchy Knit with Lycra, and Light Weight Wool Crepe.

TUSSAH SILK – often also called Peace Silk or Vegetarian Silk. However, my research has found that although Peace Silk is better for the environment it falls a bit short on what could be called Vegetarian. Quite beautiful with linen like qualities it has a nubby feel and very little stretch.

WE DO NOT USE BAMBOO, MODEL, OR TENCEL/LYOCELL FABRIC DUE TO THE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HIGHLY TOXIC CHEMICAL CALLED CARBON DISULPHIDE REQUIRED TO TURN WOOD PULP INTO FABRIC !!!! THE GREEN WASHING SPIN ON THIS IS THAT IT IS A CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM BUT IT STILL INFUSES THIS CHEMICAL INTO THE FABRIC...NO THANKS :)

WE DO NOT USE SOY FABRIC BECAUSE THE RAINFOREST IS BEING LEVELED AT A CATASTROPHIC RATE TO MEET CONSUMER DEMAND . SOY IS THE 2ND MOST GENETICALLY MODIFIED ROUND UP READY CROP IN THE WORLD.
