GoldhawkPotteryEtc's Shop Announcement

Colorful stoneware pottery - that's what I make in my home studio. I moved to Western New York (Rochester, Buffalo area) in 2010 and realized my dream of opening a home studio. I use an old Randall kick wheel and an electric kiln. With my handmade slab roller I make hand constructed pieces too such as plates, platters, vases and more. I'm trying out new tricks every day. SPONGE POTS - I was featured in the August 2012 Home Edition of Buffalo Magazine, and I have been overwhelmed by the interest. If my pieces are sold out, please let me know if you are interested in one or more as I am in the process of making many, many more. If you tell me in advance what colors you like, I can try to make one just for you! I am also selling them at the Village Artisans on Main Street in Williamsville, NY.

2013 CRAFT SHOWS: I am hoping to be selling this summer at the Saturday Artisan Market at the Central Wharf in Buffalo, NY. The market is open for 10 Saturdays starting May 18 through September 21, 2013. The market is open 10 am to 5 pm. I'll likely be participating in St. Gregory the Great Holiday Craft Show (Nov ) and Williamsville PTA Holiday Craft show (Dec ). Both shows are in Williamsville, NY.

This year I began featuring beautiful handmade upcycled wine cork trivets and coasters made by my dad. He's been making these for years and they are a perfect accompaniment to my pottery pieces, and some now include ceramic tiles.

My vision is to create pottery pieces for everyday use that are unique and well designed. All pottery is handmade by me, using white stoneware clay with my stamp or initials at the bottom. Each piece is fired twice - once in a bisque fire (for 12 hours of firing, then 24 hours of cooling) and then glaze fired in a kiln (also 10 hours of firing to cone 6 or more than 2200 degrees Fahrenheit, then 24 hours of cooling). Therefore, each piece takes at least two weeks from start to finish (and that is the minimum, it generally takes a lot longer than that to fill the kiln). All pottery is also dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. All glazes are lead free and therefore food safe.

The size dimensions are provided in each description. Also, pottery can be heavy and require a larger shipping box so shipping charges may be a little higher than other items such as clothing or jewelry. I ship using Priority mail, and if shipping costs less than what I charged, I will refund you the difference over $1. I pack each item in bubble wrap and cushion items with packing peanuts and other materials.

YARN BOWLS - were featured in the Marketplace at Vogue Knitting Live in New York City in January 2012!

If you are in New York State, I am required to charge sales tax. Its a complicated issue so I am working on determining how best to make this charge as NYS tax rates differ by location all over the state.

Please enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.
