I became interested in making jewelry a few years ago after watching my youngest daughter, Wendy, creating her own designs. Initially, I kept her company in my in my backyard during the summer, which was my "off time" as I was a full time third grade teacher. Not one to sit idly, I picked up some beads and tools, and began to experiment. We taught each other the ins and outs of jewelry making that summer. We had plenty of missteps, but produced some pretty pieces. I had found a new creative outlet.

Of course, I couldn't wear all of the pieces that I made - there were too many! So I began to sell my earrings, bracelets and necklaces at craft fairs as Green Eyed Chick. My Etsy shop followed.

And then.........I began to decorate little boxes. I have always loved boxes.......my mother used to laugh that when I received a gift I always admired the box first! There's something about those straight edges (lol...just kidding). Anyway, I decided to branch out and decorate the boxes to accompany my jewelry. Each trinket box is hand-drawn and and hand painted by me, and decorated with brass embellishments. I love custom orders, especially when customers give me new ideas to make different types of boxes that I add to my shop.

Oh....btw...my eyes are green - but they are green hazel. Green Hazel Eyed Chick didn't sound quite as good as Green Eyed Chick.....lol!
