GreenRiverWoods's Shop Announcement

Experience the elegance and warmth of real wood. Everyone deserves better than the generic mass-produced or knife-destroying "green" bamboo (grass) cutting board shipped halfway around the world, the overpriced IKEA table, island or counter top. I work very hard to keep my prices reasonable and use reclaimed local and exotic timber almost exclusively.

Whether you desire an entire kitchen counter or island top, an original end grain chopping surface, chef-quality, non-scarring, self-healing and able to endure generations of use while keeping your good cutlery sharp, or a custom tabletop or shelf, every piece I make is personally tailored quality construction from start to finish.

I will work with anyone to meet their needs as well as financial range. Talk to me about my sliding scale for those with neither criminally high discretionary income nor history of enriching Goldman Sachs. Shipping anywhere is possible.

With over 16 years experience, I also do antique refinishing work/building/remodeling/custom cabinetry/trim and finish carpentry locally in Asheville. Good working relationships with several excellent sources of quality reclaimed timber, both local and exotic, provide me with the vast majority of my material.

Don't be fooled by the "green" bamboo or "sanitary" plastic. Using artificially cheap imports from clear-cut farms of an invasive species that does not provide any food value, harvested in child-labor/slave-wage/human rights-challenged China and shipped across the ocean does not make you any "greener." In the end bamboo is simply grass, not wood, and while a versatile building material constitutes one of the most unpleasant surfaces to cut on. Dulling your knives instantly, you may as well be using glass. Local reclaimed timber is a far more rewarding and greener way to go.
