Announcement    While our shop has had many evolutions, we are now going to focus mainly on antique lighting. Lights have been a specialty of ours since our start in the 1980's. Over the years we have handled everything from oil lamps to Tiffany lamps, and everything in between. With years of experience and retirement in the not too far distance, it is time to slow down and work on what we know and love.

Transparency and honesty should be demanded of a seller. When working with lighting, there are many things that can be altered over the past years, and I believe those in the know owe it to their customers to point those things out. When I shop in general, whether online or in the field, I see many things not correct with much of the lighting being offered. A dealer with as many years of experience in the industry as us can spot incorrect ceiling canopies, wrong finials, new shades, as well as complete cobbled up creations.

Yes, parts go missing, things get damaged, and concessions sometimes need to be made as not all correct parts are readily available. Where I stand as that an honest dealer or specialist, should let a customer know when alterations have been made in order to make a light usable once again. Not hard to state a canopy has been replaced, the finial is a reproduction, etc. Customers spending their hard-earned money should know what they are buying. Not all care as long as it looks nice, Others want strict originality. If you think of antique lighting as an investment, you should know originality will be key down the line.

I chase a lot of Art Deco slip shade fixtures. In time you come to realize that each fixture had a specific shade, a specific ceiling canopy, as well as lower finial. Some were used on several models of a manufacture while others where specific to just one. Little things, but important to know when buying. Many canopies or finials can be worth $100 alone and buying a fixture with the wrong one can be a costly mistake if not compensated in the price. It's a pretty common defense for a dealer to say they didn't know when selling lights with incorrect parts. My answer to that has always been, you are dealing with the wrong dealer.

You can rest assured that we will call all items we sell as they are, and you will not be surprised down the line. I was recently at a bed and breakfast where the owner was bragging up his Victorian gas light fixture. He called it a gas fixture, which it never was, it was always electric, and he did not know the shades were both new, and of the wrong style. I am guessing he paid a lot of money for something that was neither correct, nor of the right time period.

There are some tremendous deals to be found when buying antiques, and even more problem pieces being either knowingly or unknowingly misrepresented.

Each fixture we sell is done how I would want it for my home. The degree of restoration and refinishing varies on the individual basis of every light on the workbench. Do we ever have fun and go off the rails, yes, and you can rest assured we will tell you when that happens.

We will sell lighting that has been restored, rebuilt, and tested giving you peace of mind knowing it has been checked out and has been re-wired with UL Listed wire. Sockets will be tested and changed out as needed. Each light is unique and different from the next, and we will always let you know of any changes and upgrades have been made in our shop.

We are a family business with 80+ years' experience in the antiques and collectibles business. This is not a hobby, but a full-time business. Our packing and shipping is fast, safe, and secure with all items being insured to your door.
